Hyderabad HC pardons duo sentenced to life

The bench pointed out several lapses in the way the investigation officials had handled the material objects in the case. The duo were acquitted for this and authorities were asked to set them free. The collection of poison bottle, its transit to FSL lab and the incoherent witness statements were all cited by the bench as lapses on the part of the prosecution. The two were charged with killing K Jagan Mohan Reddy, husband of Raveena, on June 16, 2007.Following a complaint by Jagan Mohan’s father, Uppal police had registered a case, arrested Raveena and Krishnam Raju and filed a chargesheet against them which said that the two had an extra marital relationship and got rid of Jagan Mohan by poisoning him. HYDERABAD: Stating that the prosecution had failed to establish its case in a fool-proof manner, a bench of the Hyderabad high court has acquitted a woman from Bhimareddy Nagar near Uppal and also her alleged male friend both of whom were earlier sentenced to life by a trial court on charges of killing her husband by administering poison to him.The bench of Justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan and Justice M Satyanarayana Murthy pronounced this judgement after hearing appeals filed by life convicts Kandadi Raveena and Thurugopu Krishnam Raju .
