HYDERABAD: YSRC chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s claim that he is taking the help of Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to clinch a special category status (SCS) for Andhra Pradesh appears to be not holding any water, according to political analysts.They claimed TRS has been inconsistent on its support to granting SCS to AP and the Centre has repeatedly said no special category status would be given to the state of Andhra Pradesh.Political analyst and former MLC K Nageshwar said, “TRS has been inconsistent on the issue of special status to AP. In Parliament, they supported SCS, but during the recent Telangana assembly polls, they opposed it, stating all industries will move out in case this happens. The Federal Front is yet to take shape and, even if the front is formed, there is no certainty that it will have SCS on its agenda. Regional parties have conflicting interests. BJD in Odisha, for example, is opposing Polavaram project.”“Jagan has not gone to any other party seeking support for SCS. On the other hand, Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu is trying to give himself a strong position so that he can make his call in national politics in 2019. People of Andhra strongly believe that for the growth of the state, support of centre is important,” Nageshwar said.YSRCP leader and former minister Dharmana Prasada Rao said, “Jagan has been fighting for the cause of SCS for the past four years and that it was promised by the Central government during the debate on the AP Reorganisation Bill.” He alleged that Naidu took a Uturn on SCS.
