HYDERABAD: On Saturday, Chief Minister KCR with officials of road and building (R&B) reviewed roads and highways and in a meeting at Pragathi Bhavan directed officials to improve roads in the state. He also instructed them that in the state, all the gram panchayats including newly formed ones should have bituminous treatment (BT) road facility in the next 2 years. He said, after irrigation projects, top priority would be given to roads, including highways. He directed the R&B officials to prepare reports on existing road condition and an action plan to make them “look like a mirror”. He said the budget allocation would be made for it. He suggested that the principal secretary of R&B should do a conference with all the engineers to know the present conditions of the roads and the action to be taken. Review of Metro Rail: The Hyderabad Metro is a rapid transit system, serving the city of Hyderabad. A 30 km stretch from Miyapur to Nagole which was inaugurated on 28 November 2017 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It is estimated to cost ?18,800 crore (US$2.6 billion). As of October 2018, about 200,000 people use the Metro per day. A ladies only coach was introduced on all the trains from 7 May 2018. It may be mentioned that Metro Rail was launched in Hyderabad recently. There are also plans to extend this service to Old City.
