Telangana CM KCR to expand his cabinet on Feb 19

HYDERABAD: The much awaited cabinet expansion by Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will take place on February 19 at 11.30 am. KCR was administered oath as chief minister for a second term on December 13 by Governor ESL Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan. It can come as no surprise if any of the former ministers do not find berth in the ministry during the cabinet expansion. In the previous government, Mahmood Ali was also deputy chief minister holding the revenue portfolio.The former ministers have been keenly looking forward for the cabinet expansion as much as new aspirants to be inducted into the cabinet. Going by five vacancies of ministers, KCR will have the option of inducting fresh blood.

HYDERABAD: The much awaited cabinet expansion by Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will take place on February 19 at 11.30 am. Chandrasekhar Rao has fixed the date after consulting the astrologer. The Marga suddha pournami, which falls on February 19, is considered auspicious. The expansion will end 66-day-long wait for TRS MLAs who are expecting a berth in the cabinet.Chandrasekhar Rao met Governor ESL Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan on Friday afternoon and conveyed him the decision to expand the cabinet. Officials have been asked to make preparations for the event which will be held at Raj Bhavan.So far, it has only been a two-member cabinet in Telangana after the December 6, 2018 assembly elections, for which results were announced on December 11. KCR was administered oath as chief minister for a second term on December 13 by Governor ESL Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan. The only other minister who was sworn-in was Mahmood Ali. In the previous government, Mahmood Ali was also deputy chief minister holding the revenue portfolio.The former ministers have been keenly looking forward for the cabinet expansion as much as new aspirants to be inducted into the cabinet. A cabinet strength can be a total of 18 ministers, including the chief minister.In the last elections, four ministers including, P Mahendar Reddy, T Nageshwara Rao, J Krishna Rao and Azmeera Chandulal lost. Former agriculture minister P Srinivas Reddy has been made the Speaker. The Speaker during the previous government S Madhusudhana Chary had also lost the polls. Going by five vacancies of ministers, KCR will have the option of inducting fresh blood. It can come as no surprise if any of the former ministers do not find berth in the ministry during the cabinet expansion.
