Metro in old city: notices issued to acquire properties

Hyderabad: The process of issuing notices to the property owners in the old city, to acquire property for metro rail, have begun. As per the notice issued by Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), the said land has been handed over to Hyderabad Metro Rail and Hyderabad Metro Rail works will begin in the next few days. Meanwhile, heritage activists say that the heritage structure can be used as a metro station by renovating it without damaging the actual structure. They said when Paigah building can be used as American Consulate, the historical building of Darushifa can also be used by preserving it.

As per the notice issued by Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), the said land has been handed over to Hyderabad Metro Rail and Hyderabad Metro Rail works will begin in the next few days. The notice issued on January 7, 2019, states that it has been decided to hand over 1-acre land to Hyderabad Metro Rail, which includes the previous store of GHMC, the administrative block of Quli Qutub Shah Urban Development Authorities, election storage room and planning block. Meanwhile, heritage activists say that the heritage structure can be used as a metro station by renovating it without damaging the actual structure. They said when Paigah building can be used as American Consulate, the historical building of Darushifa can also be used by preserving it.
