“They are the ones who are handing out targets and using teachers for canvassing. “Many private schools are forcing teachers to work during summer vacation and using us for canvassing. Meanwhile, Members of Telangana Recognised School Management Association claimed that this is the case with corporate, big private schools. The management of budget private schools cannot be blamed for this,” said S Madhusudhan Reddy of TRSMA. “One of the main reasons why teachers are losing respect, both from parents and students, is this canvassing during summer.

Hyderabad: Teachers working for private schools in Telangana have approached the government seeking help against school administrations mandating them to engage in a door-to-door campaign during the summer vacation and that too without getting paid for their extra strenuous job. According to sources these teachers need to get at least a minimum of 10 new admissions before the next academic year starts failing which the teachers might as well lose their job. To highlight the teachers plight, the members of the Telangana Private Teachers Forum (TPTF) recently met education secretary B Janardhan Reddy and submitted a representation urging him to intervene and address the issue, along with a representation to Commissioner of school education and district education. “Many private schools are forcing teachers to work during summer vacation and using us for canvassing. Teachers are forced to get admissions failing which they are asked face consequences. We humbly request to consider this plea on humanitarian grounds and initiate action against management,” read the letter submitted to Reddy. This role of campaigning teachers claim they are being disrespected by both the parents and teachers. “One of the main reasons why teachers are losing respect, both from parents and students, is this canvassing during summer. It feels like I have made a wrong choice by entering this field,” complaints Rajitha M an IT worker who left the software field to become teacher about 15 years ago. Meanwhile, Members of Telangana Recognised School Management Association claimed that this is the case with corporate, big private schools. “They are the ones who are handing out targets and using teachers for canvassing. The management of budget private schools cannot be blamed for this,” said S Madhusudhan Reddy of TRSMA.
