Sridevi takes over as first woman judge in TS HC

Hyderabad: Justice Sridevi today took over as the first woman justice in Telangana High Court here. The President gave his assent to appoint Justice Sridevi as judge in Telangana High Court followed by a recommendation from Supreme Court Collegium. High Court Interim Chief Justice Raghavendra Singh Chowhan administered her oath office and secrecy on the court premises. Justice Sridevi rose to become additional justice after serving in various capacities there. Sridevi appealed through Allahabad Chief Justice to get her transferred to Telangana High Court in Hyderabad.

The President gave his assent to appoint Justice Sridevi as judge in Telangana High Court followed by a recommendation from Supreme Court Collegium. Hailing from Vizianagaram in Andhra Pradesh, Sridevi was selected to UP cadre on All India quota in judicial services. Justice Sridevi rose to become additional justice after serving in various capacities there. She also offered services as judge of Special CBI court in Ghaziabad. Then she was elevated as additional justice of Allahabad High Court in 2018. Sridevi appealed through Allahabad Chief Justice to get her transferred to Telangana High Court in Hyderabad. On this, the Supreme Court collegium has recommended to the Centre. Source: NSS
