A+ A- Hyderabad remains rain-deficit this monsoon, although the rest of Telangana has received rain in multiple spells over the last few weeks. IMD officials says on Thursday, the city received light showers of about 5 mm. The deficit continues at 27 per cent — the difference between actual and normal rainfall. Twenty-one other districts have also recorded deficit rainfall till date, with Nalgonda district registering the highest deficit at 44 per cent, followed by Jogulamba Gadwal District, at 41 per cent. However, the shortfall across the state has reduced from 38 per cent in July to 5 per cent in August. On the other hand, districts of Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Suryapet, Nalgonda, Ranga Reddy, Mahabubnagar,Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy and Jogulamba Gadwal have received excess rain and are likely to see more showers in the days to come. For now, the low-pressure area over east Uttar Pradesh and adjoining Bihar persists and is likely to intensify in the next 24 hours, which is likely to bring heavy rain in Telangana, said an official. Armur in Nizamabad recorded heavy rainfall of 82.3 mm on Thursday, while Mahabubnagar and Vikarabad also received above 64 mm of rain.
