Photo: Mohammed Hussain A+ A- Hyderabad: The 550th Prakash Utsav (Birthday Celebrations) of Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism who spread the message of peace and communal harmony concluded on Tuesday with thousands of devotees celebrating it with religious fervor, gaiety and devotion. The major attraction of the concluding event was jointly organised under the aegis of Prabhandak Committees, Gurdwara Guru Singh Sabha, Ashok Bazar, Afzalgunj and Gurdwara Saheb Secunderabad on Tuesday. Over 20,000 devotees participated in the “Vishaal Deewan (Mass Congregation)” by offering prayers to Guru Granth Sahib (Holy Scripture of Sikhs) at Exhibition Grounds, Nampally. Photo: Mohammed Hussain While participating in the celebrations Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) K T Rama Rao said, “As promised earlier, the TRS government is going to sanction land in western part of Hyderabad at Mokila for a New Gurdwara (Congregation) for Telangana Sikh Society. The issues related to the community will also be resolved.” K T Rama Rao after releasing a Literature of Guru Nanak teachings in Telugu language here on Tuesday has assured the Sikh brethern that State Government would extend all necessary support in addressing their pending issues such allocation of land for construction of spacious Sikh Gurudwara in Mokila in city outskirts for which the Minister assured that a foundation would be laid by the Chief Minister, K Chandrasekhar Rao soon. The long pending regularisation of land in Sikh Chawni, Kishanbagh would be sorted out shortly as State Government would call for a meeting with senior Sikh representatives and see that matter is solved at the earliest. Telangana is the only state in South India which give more respect to Sikhs. He recalled that four years ago, when Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao participated in the Guru Nanak celebrations in Hyderabad, he announced a state holiday on occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanthi. Minister for Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Cinematography Talasani Srinivas Yadav and GHMC Mayor Bonthu Ram Mohan Rao participated in the celebrations. The Prabhandak Committee President, S Gurtharan Singh Bagga, Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha (GSGS) S Baldev Singh Bagga and other committee members said that the mass congregation began this morning and continued up to 4-00pm. It was marked by the recitations of Gurubani Keertans and Kathas (Holy Hymns) by the renowned Ragi Jathas (Sikh Preachers). Bhal Amarjeer Singh of Pariala, Bhai Devinder Singh Singhji Khalsa of Sohala wale, Punjab, and other reputed Ragi Jathas who were especially invited from various parts of the country for the celebrations recited Shahad Keertans that stressed on imbibing the higher values of life and communal harmony. They also threw light on the teachings of Sikh Gurus who stood for national integration, peace, brotherhood and communal harmony.
