Vet rape case: Sania Mirza demands death penalty for accused

A+ A-Hyderabad: Sania Mirza, Indian tennis star demanded capital punishment for the accused of veterinary doctor rape-murder case. Supporting her death penalty demand for the accused, she said that there is a need to set an example. Talking about the rape case which took place in Telangana recently, the tennis star said that she was shocked when she came to know about the crime as it took place on her route to tennis academy. Accused sent to judicial remandLater, a court in Ranga Reddy had sent accused persons, Mohammad Areef, Jollu Shiva, Jollu Naveen and Chintakunta Chennakeshavulu, to 14-day judicial remand. Meanwhile, the Cyberabad police suspended three policemen, including a sub-inspector, for the delay in registering a missing case of a woman veterinarian.

It may be mentioned that the veterinarian was gang raped and murdered on Wednesday night near Outer Ring Road at Shamshabad on the city outskirts. Her charred body was found under a culvert near Shadnagar town, about 25 km from Shamshabad.
