Telangana Rashtra Samithi is totally opposed to CAA

A+ A-Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) working president and IT Minister K.T. Rama Rao has said the party is totally opposed to the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the party’s stand has been made clear in Parliament when the Bill was opposed. In an interview to NTV, Minister said that the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao led TRS party had opposed the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2019 in the Lok Sabha as well as Rajya Sabha. Students, as well as civil rights activists, have carried out protests across the country protesting against the contentious Citizenship Act, he said. Moreover, the Home Minister of Telangana State, Mohammed Mahmood Ali also promised that the National Register of Citizens (NRC) will not be implemented in the State.

TRS floor leader in the Lok Sabha Nama Nageshwar Rao had said on December 9 in the House that the legislation was against the spirit of the Constitution. Meanwhile, violent protests have ensued the country following the passage of the Bill. Students, as well as civil rights activists, have carried out protests across the country protesting against the contentious Citizenship Act, he said. The party’s opposition to the CAA was due to the exclusion of Muslims as the Indian Constitution does not discriminate on the basis of religion, Minister, added. Moreover, the Home Minister of Telangana State, Mohammed Mahmood Ali also promised that the National Register of Citizens (NRC) will not be implemented in the State.
