TRS set to sweep Telangana Municipal Polls 2020

A+ A-HYDERABAD: The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) took early leads in municipal elections as counting of votes was underway across the state on Saturday. TRS candidates were elected unanimously in 77 wards in municipalities and one ward in corporation while three candidates of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) were elected unopposed in three municipal wards.

Handsome victory The TRS has already registered a win in municipalities of IDI Bolaram, Bhingal, Alampur, Dornakal, Marapada, Sattupalli, Dharmapuri and Periyapalli. According to the results so far, TRS has won 872 out of 2979 wards. Congress got 244 wards, the BJP 116 and AIMIM secured 20, News18 Telugu reports.
