CAA-NRC: Two young women booked for staging flash protest

In a fresh police action, Humayun Nagar police have booked cases against a group of women who were reportedly involved in a flash protest on Monday night in Mehdipatnam. Soon after the news of flash protest reached the police, teams of Humayun Nagar and adjoining police stations swung into action and tried to disperse the protestors. The protest was carried out without prior police permission,” said Mohammed Zulfiqar Hussain Assistant Sub-Inspector Humayun Nagar police station.

In a fresh police action, Humayun Nagar police have booked cases against a group of women who were reportedly involved in a flash protest on Monday night in Mehdipatnam. Police went in a tizzy after a group of women led by Shiraz Khan and Nadia Khan staged an impromptu sit-in protest at Mehdipatnam near Rythu Bazaar forcing police to sound alert in the area. Soon after the news of flash protest reached the police, teams of Humayun Nagar and adjoining police stations swung into action and tried to disperse the protestors. They demanded that the government should take back the draconian laws. Due to flash protest, the flow of traffic in one of the busiest areas in the city was affected and women police forces were also pressed into service. However, late in the night, the police dispersed the protestors from the area. Also Read Tension in old city after police acts against anti CAA protestors Taking suo-moto action against the women protestors, the Humayun Nagar police registered a case under IPC sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 290 (public nuisance), 186 (Obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions).
