Three Maoists gunned down by police in an encounter, explosives recovered

The deceased Maoists included two women and one man who were killed in an encounter in Bhhadradri-Kothagudem district on Wednesday night.

Three Maoists which included two women were gunned down by police during an alleged exchange of fire rounds at Bhadradri-Kothagudem district. Earlier during the day another group of Maoists managed to escape after an encounter with a police team who was conducting an operation in the Palwancha forest area.

A special police conducting search operations in Chennapuram forest spotted movements of Maoists at around 7pm in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district. According to Sunil Dutt (SP), Bhadradri-Kothagudem ‘’an exchange of fire took place in hillocks. After the exchange when our teams inspected the area we found bodies of three Maoists in their twenties. Two of them women and one was a man’’.

Police seized an 8mm rifle, explosive materials, a kit bag and other implicated materials from the spot of encounter. The police received information that there were Maoist group consisting 10-12 members, the search operation is still in process to trace those who have managed to escape.

On the night of Wednesday around 1.45pm the police team conducting search operation Palwancha reserve forest area when they spotted a team of five Maoists after the exchange of fire the Maoist managed to escape from the place and later police recovered an SBBL gun, a kit bag a solar plate used for charging electronic equipment.

In the past one month eight Maoists have been killed in exchange of fire with police in the state.
