My Home Jewel, a gated community in the Madeenaguda area of the city has 112 positive cases of Covid-19 after 11 fresh cases being reported on Monday.

We have 112 cases now with some households entirely affected. Right from quarantine measures to arranging their daily requirements and taking them to the hospital when required, we are doing everything by ourselves. When we contacted GHMC and health officials, we were told there are no quarantine instructions for them as of now. So we took it upon ourselves, the general secretary of the owners association, Nand Kishore told.

Telangana reported 3,052 new cases were during the last 24-hour period. A total of 1.13 lakh samples were tested during this period. Seven people succumbed to the virus, taking the death toll to 1,772. The Director of Public Health and Family Welfare said that the fatality rate in Telangana stands at 0.53% as compared to the national average of 1.3%.

The number of active cases in the state has jumped to 24,131 which includes 16,118 persons who are in home and institutional quarantine. A total of 778 people have recovered from the coronavirus during the 24 hours, taking the cumulative recoveries to 3.06 lakh. The recovery rate has slipped further to 92.21% but remains above the national average of 89.5%, the bulletin stated.
