Covid 19 vaccine: 1st jab of Sputnik V administered in Hyderabad, All details of its cost and availability

Sputnik V will be India`s first single-dose vaccine, the price of a single dose has been fixed at Rs 948, while its price including GST will be Rs 995.40.

Dr. Reddy`s Laboratories, a Hyderabad based pharmaceutical company that will manufacture the Russian Corona Vaccine Sputnik V in India, introduced it in the Indian market on Friday and also announced its prices. In India, without GST, the price of a single dose has been fixed at Rs 948, while its price including GST will be Rs 995.40.

The first jab of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine was given to Deepak Sapra, Global Head of Custom Pharma Services of Dr Reddy Laboratories in Hyderabad. Two vaccines Covishield and Covaxin are already being administered in India, in such a situation, the third vaccine will give more strength to the country in the fight against Coronavirus.

The first consignment of imported doses of Sputnik V Covid-19 vaccine landed in India on 1 May and received regulatory approval from the Central Pharmaceutical Laboratory, Kasauli on 13 May 2021. The company also announced that the cost of the imported doses would be 948 + 5% GST or Rs 995.4 per dose.

The company said the vaccine will be priced much lower when its local production will commence. 

Is Sputnik V available on CoWIN?

The vaccine has been listed on the Cowin site and the Aarogya Setu App as the third option. So, you can opt for the vaccine while registering.

Its availability around India?

The vaccine will be available first in 35 cities in India since it requires to be stored at minus 18 degree Celsius. Later, once the cold chain logistics are taken care of in other locations, the vaccine will be available in other parts too, said a senior Dr Reddy’s Laboratories.

The Sputnik V vaccine was created by the Russian Direct Investment Fund. In addition to Dr. Reddy`s, RDIF has tied up with Virchow Biotech, Gland Pharma, Panacea Biotech, Stellis Biopharma, Shilpa Medicare and Hetero Biopharma to produce vaccine supplements in the country.
