Largest consignment of 3 million Sputnik V doses lands in Hyderabad

Hyderabad-based Dr. Reddy`s Laboratories is distributing and producing the Sputnik-V vaccine. Initially, 25 crore doses will be imported from Russia
A large consignment of Sputnik V vaccine arrived at Hyderabad airport at around 4 am on Tuesday by a special cargo plane from Russia. It has 56.6 tonnes of vaccine, which contains about 3 million doses. Special charter cargo aircraft RU-9450 were used for the Sputnik V vaccine to arrive in the country as soon as possible. The only vaccine has been brought on this plane.
A statement issued by GMR Hyderabad Air Cargo (GHAC) said that the special aircraft carrying a consignment of Sputnik-V vaccine from Russia landed at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad at 3.43 am on Tuesday. The statement said that the vaccine was sent out from the airport within one and a half hours, fulfilling the necessary procedures, as it has to be kept in minus 20 degree Celsius temperature.
Hyderabad-based Dr. Reddy`s Laboratories is distributing and producing the Sputnik-V vaccine. Initially, 250 million doses will be imported from Russia. The central government has said that by August the shortage of vaccine will be addressed and after that one crore doses will be administered daily. A final decision has not yet been taken on mixing the doses of the two vaccines. This means that the one who has received the first dose of Covishield will also be given the second dose of the same vaccine.
Sputnik V will cost â‚¹ 1,195 per dose, said Apollo Group of Hospitals.
