A CCTV footage of a journalist being arrested in Hyderabad is going viral. Journalists` associations and opposition parties have alleged that policemen in civil dress misbehaved with the journalist and forcibly took him away in broad daylight. In the viral video, the journalist has been identified as Raghu Ramakrishna. Suryapet district superintendent of police R Bhaskaran said Raghu was arrested for crime number 20/21 at Mattampalli police station. We know that Raghu`s wife has appealed in the High Court.

We will take whatever action is required by law and will present it before the High Court.

Telangana MLA Danasari Anasuya shared a short CCTV footage on the official social media handle, in which the journalist was shopping on the road. Then suddenly two men in civil dress come there. For a few seconds, he stands behind Raghu and forcibly takes him towards a white car parked behind. This is not a police car, it is a private car.

When asked about the indecent behaviour and coercion of the policemen with journalist Raghu, the SP said that necessary action will be taken in this matter. There is strong reaction and outrage among the local people over the viral video of the arrest of journalist Raghu. Journalists associations and political parties of the region condemned the arrest and expressed their anger over the state government`s action.
