13-century Ramappa temple in Telangana becomes a UNESCO world heritage site

The Kakatiya Rudreshwar (Rampappa Temple) temple in Telangana was on Sunday included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The Ministry of Culture gave information about this.

The Kakatiya Rudreshwar (Ramappa Temple) temple in Telangana was on Sunday included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The Ministry of Culture gave information about this. 

Union Culture Minister G Kishan Reddy tweeted, "I am very happy to inform you that UNESCO has recognized Ramappa Temple at Palampet, Warangal, Telangana as a World Heritage Site.

At the same time, PM Modi has also congratulated the people of Telangana on this occasion.

Ramappa Temple was built in the 13th century and is named after its architect Ramappa. The government had proposed to UNESCO to recognize it as a World Heritage Site for 2019. It took 40 years to build the Ramappa temple. The scenes of Mahabharata and Ramayana can be seen on the walls of this temple built on a platform six feet high.
