Man detained by police dies after jumping from a quarry

A person detained by Hayathnagar police of Rachakonda had died after jumping from a quarry at Pochampally on city outskirts when they took him there to verify his antecedents on Friday. Ganesh died while undergoing treatment, the police said. According to them, Ganesh suddenly jumped from an elevated place while walking at the quarry around 5 p.m. Ganesh claimed that he was working in a quarry at Khilaipally of Pochampally. To check his claims, the police team took him to the quarry.

The person, Akkinapally Ganesh, 26, along with another man, was found moving in suspicious circumstances at Bank Colony in Munganuru of Hayathnagar around 2.30 p.m. on Friday, according to Inspector J. Narender Goud. “They were possessing tools like screw drivers and steel rods used for breaking into houses,” the Inspector maintained. The duo was also carrying cigarette packets and liquor, he said. Ganesh claimed that he was working in a quarry at Khilaipally of Pochampally. “But we had information that he was involved in burglaries in different police stations of Nalgonda district,” the Inspector said. To check his claims, the police team took him to the quarry. According to them, Ganesh suddenly jumped from an elevated place while walking at the quarry around 5 p.m. He suffered bleeding wounds and was rushed to a near-by private hospital. Ganesh died while undergoing treatment, the police said.
