Further, the Chief Minister explained to the Union Minister the projects being implemented for the development of the irrigation sector in the State. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday called on Union Minister for Environment, Forests and Climate Change Harsh Vardhan and thanked him for giving forest clearances to the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project. Telangana was the only State in the country to have allocated ?25,000 crore budgetary support for irrigation this year, the Chief Minister told the Minister. The Chief Minister had also requested Dr. Harsh Vardhan to release funds pending release to the State under the Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA) provisions.

Venugopalachary, the Chief Minister met the Union Minister at the latter’s office chambers at Paryavaran Bhavan and thanked him for giving clearance for utilisation of 7,920 acres of forest land for the Kaleshwaram project. Union Minister for Labour Bandaru Dattatreya was also present on the occasion. Mr. Venugopalchary later told newspersons that the Chief Minister invited the Union Minister to the inauguration of the second phase of the Haritha Haaram programme in July and also extend funding for plantation of 230 crore saplings/seedlings as part of the scheme.
