UPSC: 3rd ranker gets HC notice for producing fake certificate

HC has asked Ronanki to submit certificates to the UPSC to prove his claim. Hyderabad: UPSC 3rd rank holder Gopalakrishna Ronanki has been issued a notice by the Hyderabad High Court to prove whether his disability is genuine. Advocate M Muralikrishna had filed a public interest litigation (PIL) accusing Ronanki of submitting fake certificates in order to qualify the exam, reported HT. They can also be debarred either permanently or for a specified period from any exam or selection held by them.

Advocate Muralikrishna stated that Ronanki who belonged to OBC submitted fake certificates last year stating he has 45% disability. Muralikrishna further explained that cut-off marks for the disabled were lesser as compared to that OBC candidate. As a matter of fact, 110.6 was required for OBC but since Ronanki got 91.34 and he was under disability quota he could qualify the mains. “I come from a poor farmer’s family. How can I manipulate my certificate?” Ronanki said refuting the allegations. He fell from a tree when he was in class 10, he said. Further explaining, he said that all doctors had checked and given him a disability certificate. Under Rule 14 of the Rules for the civil services exam, is anyone produces fake documents or make statements which are incorrect or false, can be disqualified by the commission from the exam. They can also be debarred either permanently or for a specified period from any exam or selection held by them.
