Hyderabad: Indian Consul General Mr. Noor Rahman Sheikh posted at Jeddah told that there is no ban on Rs. 2000 currency notes and said that Saudi official have assured that this currency will be accepted. Prof. S.A. Shukoor, Special Officer, Telangana State Haj Committee contacted Mr. Mohammed Noor Rahman Sheik and made a reference to the news items published by various news agencies regarding non-acceptance of Rs. 2000 currency notes in Saudi Arabia. Consul General contacted Saudi officials and sought clarification. He said that Saudi officials are ready to accept Rs. 2000 currency notes and Saudi Govt. has not imposed any restrictions. Now, Haj pilgrims can take Indian currency within limits which may include Rs. 2000 currency notes. These currency notes will be exchanged with Riyal in Saudi Arabia. –Siasat News
