‘Fake Pulses racket’ busted, seized Rs 5 lakh counterfeit seeds

Karimnagar: City Task Force Department busted fake pulses racket in a raid in Housing Board Colony in Kapuwada on Tuesday. The Police has also seized fake pulses amounting to Rs 5 lakhs from the Warehouse. According to the Commissioner of Police, V B Kamalasan Reddy, Peddi Praveen the accused, who runs a shop named Thirumala Traders, managed to supply these counterfeit pulses across various retail shops in Karimnagar district. Peddi purchased these counterfeit pulses from a man named Ashok from Jaipur, Rajasthan. The Task force officials received a tip off regarding the illegal business and conducted surprise raids at Thirumala Traders warehouse and found 199 bags of counterfeit pulses worth Rs 5 Lakhs said the Commissioner of Police. “By adding colour to the pulses, a few traders are indulging in the illegal business of selling fake pulses and other food items to get easy money. People will face health problems if they consume such fake pulses and food items” added the Commissioner. The Commissioner has warned against such illegal activities since the City Police are successfully uncovering these fake adulterated foods rackets in the city stating the wrongdoers would be served with stringent punishments for violating the rules. The commissioner has warned city dwellers from purchasing food products available for lesser prices in the city.
