This Hyderabadi is Gifting Toilets to the Needy

I want to give something back to the society by building toilets as the right to relive oneself without shame or humiliation is the most pressing and basic human requirement," he says, adding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi 's Swachh Bharat Abhiyan too has motivated him equally.

Taking a cue from the plot of actor Akshay Kumar 's latest release, a Hyderabadi resident has launched a mission to spread the message of sanitation and cleanliness byconstructing toilets for the needy in the city.Agriculturist G Sripal Reddy from Alwal recently gifted a toilet to Reshma, a widow, on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan saying he wants to free women from the humiliation of having to answer to nature's call inthe open.Reddy recently completed the 8x6 feet toilet at a cost of `24,000 at Bharat Nagar slum in Alwal where the woman resides. "I want to focus on slums and under-developed areas as people residing in these areas are the worst hit by the absence of proper sanitation," Reddy says.PV Pradeep, a social activist from Old Alwal area, said, "It is heartening to see that a good Samaritan like Sripal Reddy has taken it upon himself to address the issue of sanitation. He constructed the toilet in just one week while the authorities concerned are yet to begin their work. Lack of sanitation is a serious issue and it is unfortunate that our society is still overlooking it."
