Managing Director and CEO Umesh Chand Asawa has been elected member of the managing committee of Indian Banks’ Association. Mahesh Co-operative Urban Bank Ltd. The IBA represents 237 banking companies in the country and its managing committee consists of 31 members, including Chief Executives of nationalised, private sector, foreign and co-operative banks, the release said. Mr. Asawa, who has been with the bank for over three decades, was elected at the annual general body meeting of the Association in Mumbai on Friday. He was previously associated with the IBA Committee on ‘Banking Industry - Vision 2010.’ It is the first time a banker from south India has been elected to the managing committee of IBA as a representative of co-operative banks in the country, a release from the multi-state scheduled bank said.
