Police bust fake currency racket, five arrested

The accused secured the fake currency of ?2,000 denominations from Maharashtra and were planning to circulate in the marketyards. The police have registered a case and planning to arrest the suppliers of fake currency notes and persons involved in its printing and circulation. Commissioner of Police V. B. The arrested include, Devarakonda Raj (29) of Jannaram village in Mancherial district, Chennamaneni Manohar Rao of Redlaguda village in Mancherial district, Durgam Kranthi (19) Ponakal village in Jammikunta mandal, Puramshetti Sharath Chandra of Ponakal village in Jammikunta and Syed Rahman of Jannaram village in Mancherial district. Additional DCP Sanjeev Kumar, Jammikunta inspector P Prashanth Reddy and others were present.

Disclosing this to newsmen here on Wednesday, Commissioner of Police V. B. Kamalasan Reddy said that on credible information about the movement of counterfeit currency in the agriculutural markets in the mandal, the Commissioner’s Task Force and the Jammikunta police jointly conducted the operation and nabbed the accused during the vehicle checking and seized the fake currency notes.
