Venkataram Reddy succeeded in convincing the farmers of Tuniki Bollaram in Mulug mandal to surrender their lands for the construction of houses for the oustees under the proposed Kondapochamma Reservoir. The farmers accepted the terms offered by the district administration following an one-and-a-half hour discussion with Joint Collector Padmakar followed by interaction with the Collector for 15 minutes at the Collectorate here on Wednesday. The farmers have accepted the offer of ? 8.5 lakh per acre. The Collector promised to do justice to the poor. “The government is committed to do justice for all the land oustees surrendering lands for the construction of reservoirs and canals in the district. We have proposed construction of houses at Tuniki Bollaram for the oustees of Kondapochamma reservoir from Bahilampur and Mamidyala villages. We need some land from the villagers in addition to the existing government land. That was why the land acquisition was needed,” Mr. Venkataram Reddy told the villagers stating that construction of reservoirs in the district would benefit even neighbouring districts.
