12-hour bandh in Dima Hasao today

"We vehemently oppose the idea (of including Dima Hasao in Nagalim) and had urged Mall to come to Haflong and seek an apology for his proposal to give away Dima Hasao to Nagalim by January 24. However, as they have failed to do so, we have been compelled to call the bandh," a Jadike Naiso Hosom spokesperson said. We had also urged the government to clarify the issue by the same date. SILCHAR: Following reports of a draft Naga peace agreement, which includes Dima Hasao district in the proposed Nagalim, Dimasa tribal bodies have called a 12-hour Dima Hasao district bandh on Thursday in protest.A recent report had said Jagdamba Mall, RSS organizer in the northeast, has been instrumental in framing the draft Naga peace agreement and claimed that the draft agreement suggests the Naga-inhabited districts of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur be consolidated as greater Nagaland or Nagalim.Mall has subsequently dismissed the report and said he made no much statement. The report has, however, drawn the ire of Dimasa organizations of Dima Hasao - the Jadike Naiso Hosom, the Dimasa Students' Union and the Dimasa Mothers' Association, among others - who have called a bandh from 5am to 5pm on Thursday.
