IMPHAL: A day after a powerful IED explosion near a BSF camp at Koirengei killed two jawans and injured three civilians, police on Thursday carried out a combing operation at the nearby Mantripukhri area and picked up 30 persons, including 16 women, for not possessing identity cards. They paraded the residents and verified them one after another. Security has also been beefed up at all strategic places in Imphal city in the aftermath of the string of bomb attacks by suspected rebels on camps of security forces.Chief minister N Biren Singh said a search is on to pull up the perpetrators behind the string of blasts triggered in Imphal.Led by officers, commandos and lady personnel, police carried out the combing operation at Mantripukhri on Thursday about two kms from the blast site.
