IMPHAL: Denying charges of Lt-Col Dharamvir Singh 's wife that her husband was arrested without any warrant from his official quarter here, the Army has clarified the officer was escorted back to his original place of posting at Rangapahar in Nagaland.On Wednesday, the Assam Rifles , in its statement issued on behalf of the Army, said, "Her version to the media and in the FIR she lodged are inconsistent and aimed at maligning the image of the Army for some devious purpose." It added Lt-Col Singh was sent to Manipur on a temporary assignment and was asked to report back at Rangapahar, his place of posting, on being relieved by another officer.On June 29, the statement said, Lt-Col Singh was ordered by the authorities to move back to Rangapahar and was provided with an official vehicle and a protection party. The officer reached Rangapahar the same day and is discharging his military duties since then, it added. In an FIR lodged with Imphal City police station, Ranju Singh, the officer's wife, had alleged that a team of Army personnel, led by a Lieutenant Colonel and a Major, picked up her husband, Lt-Col Singh (3 Corps of Intelligence and Surveillance Unit), from his official quarter here at 6.30am on Sunday.
