Naga accord: Cong in Delhi to protect Manipur territoryA Congress delegation led by former Manipur CM and opposition leader Okram Ibobi Singh went to New Delhi on Monday to request the central leaders for safeguarding the state's territorial integrity and unity in the wake of the 'conclusive stages' of the Centre-NSCN (IM) framework agreement. The team, which comprises a large number of MLAs, will also insist on withdrawing the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill and resolving the impasse besieging the Manipur University. The team will also urge central authorities to resolve the escalating crisis in the Manipur University where students and teachers are demanding the VC's resignation over charges of financial irregularities. During the 'The Great June Uprising, Unity Day' held in Imphal, hordes of social organizations had stated that people will fight any divisive policy of the Centre to break Manipur. "Without the consent of the people, civil society and political parties, we will never accept the setting up of a separate autonomous territorial council in the state," Ibobi told reporters at the Imphal airport before leaving for Delhi.
