Manipur Univ crisis MoA binding on all parties says Biren

Meanwhile, the two-member fact-finding committee, which was set up by the MHRD on August 6, has recently begun its investigation into the allegations against Pandey.Responding to a query at a media conference in his office secretariat, Biren said on Saturday that the MoA is binding on all parties. IMPHAL: Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh on Saturday said the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA), which was signed by the Centre, state and Manipur University community, is binding on all parties.The chief minister's statement comes at a time when MU vice-chancellor, Adya Prashad Pandey, has filed a petition in Manipur high court to quash the MoA and disband the fact-finding committee formed to probe into the financial and administrative allegations against him.A division bench of the Manipur high court on Friday deferred the case for hearing on September 17. Pointing out that the agreement was signed in his presence, Biren added that the state government would approach the Centre soon to resolve the crisis.Governor Najma Heptulla had told the agitating students on Friday that she would try her best to solve the present crisis and also inform the matter to the President.
