IMPHAL: The Manipur University Teacher's Association (MUTA), one of the protesting bodies of the university, on Saturday said it would not engage in any dialogue until the unconditional release of arrested teachers and students. The university is in the grip of a three-month-long agitation over alleged administrative and financial irregularities by vice-chancellor AP Pandey. "The government should also call back the large contingents of police, IRB and paramilitary forces deployed in the university complex," the leader added. "We will hold talks only after the government releases the arrested teachers and students without any conditions and withdraws the FIR registered against them," a key leader of MUTA told TOI on Saturday. On September 21, things took a grim turn when more than 80 students and six teachers were arrested after a police raid on campus following a complaint filed by acting vice-chancellor Yugindro Singh.
