IMPHAL: A 32-year-old man who issued death threats to chief minister N Biren Singh on social networking sites was pulled up by a combined team of Manipur Police, Tamil Nadu Police and Delhi Police special cell from the Bathalapalli area of the south Indian state on Wednesday night.Ali Ahmed aka Babuji, originally hailing from Assam 's Cachar district, was brought to Imphal by Manipur Police on Thursday evening for taking up necessary legal procedures. Ahmed was arrested after Manipur inspector general of police (law and order) Clay Khongsai coordinated with the Tamil Nadu police and special cell (Delhi police), added the SP.A duty magistrate in Imphal on Thursday evening remanded Ahmed to police custody till Wednesday.Two co-accuseds in the case, identified as Raja Khan (35) and Kamal Hassan (29) of Moijing area in Thoubal district, had already been arrested by Manipur Police on October 11. Superintendent of police (Imphal West) Haobijam Jogeshchandra said they received information that an unknown person had uploaded a video clip on Facebook and Whatsapp threatening to kill the CM, using anti-social and defamatory words, early last month.The police then registered an FIR and carried out an investigation, during which the main accused was identified as Ali Ahmed, he said.When the state police and their Assam counterparts rushed to Cachar, the accused had already left the area, Jogeshchandra added.
