Bomb goes off in Imphal no casualty

IMPHAL: A bomb went off at the gate of a cement and steel store at the Kwakeithel area in Imphal West early on Saturday morning. "The explosion may have been the fallout of an extortion bid by underground groups about three months ago," police said. No one was injured in the blast, suspected to have been triggered by rebels. The steel shutter of the store was damaged by its impact," a local said. "The bomb exploded around 4.30am.

Police rushed to the spot soon after and have registered an FIR. "The explosion may have been the fallout of an extortion bid by underground groups about three months ago," police said. The incident comes barely a fortnight after rebels attacked a CRPF truck with a grenade here, killing a jawan and injuring another.No group has claimed responsibility for the blast yet.
