Manipur bank official guns down youth for overtaking car

IMPHAL: A 25-year-old youth was shot dead by the deputy manager of a bank in a road rage case in Imphal West on Tuesday night.S Prasanta Singh from the Changangei Uchekon area was travelling with his friends in two cars. The protesters also formed the People's Action Committee against the Killing of Prashanta. Around 10pm, Prasanta and the accused Ch Budhachandra Singh (56) got into an altercation about overtaking near the Naoremthong bridge, locals said.Budhachandra then sped ahead of the two cars, stopped his car at the bridge, whipped out a pistol and stopped Prashanta and his friends. He shot Prashanta dead.Police reached the site soon after, arrested Budhachandra and seized his licensed .32 pistol and the car.Condemning the incident, residents of the Changangei area staged a blockade there along the Tiddim Road on Wednesday morning, which ended after local legislators and police urged them to call it off.
