PM Narendra Modi in Manipur on January 4

IMPHAL: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will come to Manipur on January 4 and lay foundation stones for a bunch of developmental projects. A meeting of the administrative secretaries and heads of departments is being convened as part of the preparations, they added. The PMO, however, did not provide the itinerary or other details of the visit, they added.The state government has started taking necessary measures to ensure a smooth visit of the PM, they said. The visit comes at a time when various parties have started groundwork to woo votes for the crucial Lok Sabha polls, but a senior leader of the Manipur BJP unit told TOI on Friday that Modi’s visit is not related to party affairs.During his visit, the Prime Minister is scheduled to inaugurate the integrated check post at the border town of Moreh , lay foundation stones for floodlighting system at the main and hockey stadiums at the Khuman Lampak sports complex in Imphal and also lay the foundation for one Rs 10-crore astro turf football ground and one other football ground in Imphal West and another ground in Thoubal district, official sources informed.On Thursday, the PM’s Office (PMO) intimated the state government about the PM’s official visit, the sources added.
