He added that the water treatment project would also save the Loktak lake, which is the pride of the state. The first phase of the project would be undertaken along the polluted stretch of the Nambul river, from Iroisemba to Heirangoithong area in Imphal. The water treatment plan inolves using moving bed bio reactors at Mongsangei and Samushang. IMPHAL: A Rs 97-crore project for the rejuvenation and conservation of the Nambul river in Imphal was launched by Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh on Saturday.The project aims to control river pollution by treating urban waste present in the water by using the latest available technology. Officials said the state government has also submitted proposals for similar projects for seven other rivers - Imphal, Iril, Khuga, Khujairok, Lokchao, Manipur and Thoubal .
