IMPHAL: Congress president Rahul Gandhi will address a rally in Imphal on March 20. While seven individuals have reportedly applied for Congress tickets for the Outer Manipur seat, nine are interested in applying for a ticket for the Inner Manipur constituency, the Congress leader said. Along with some AICC leaders, Rahul will arrive here on the morning of March 20 and address the poll rally at Hapta Kangkjeibung, a Congress leader said.Congress, which is holding both Inner Manipur and Outer Manipur parliamentary constituencies, has advanced its ground works to retain the seats. The party will announce its candidates of the two seats in the next few days, a state unit party leader told this reporter on Wednesday evening.Manipur will go to the polls on April 11 for the Outer seat covering the hill districts and April 18 for the Inner constituency encompassing the valley areas. To finalize the name of nominees with the party's high command , CLP leader and former CM Okram Ibobi Singh on Wednesday flew out to New Delhi.The newly appointed Congress Working Committee (CWC) member and former deputy CM Gaikhangam is already stationed in the national capital to attend the meeting, he added.
