33-year-old youth in Manipur missed his UPSC prelims examination after he was allegedly beaten up by villagers in Ukhrul district while he was on his way to the exam centre in Imphal.

33-year-old youth in Manipur missed his UPSC prelims examination after he was allegedly beaten up by villagers in Ukhrul district while he was on his way to the exam centre in Imphal. UPSC aspirant Soshim Keishing, who had multiple injuries in the attack, had been admitted to a district hospital, as per report.

Police officer said, secretary of the village allegedly thrashed Soshim, after accusing him of disrespecting guidelines issued by local authorities. A suo moto FIR had been registered at Ukhrul police station.

The incident took place following an argument between Keishing and the authorities of Rayotang village in Ukhrul over issuance of “travel pass”, which he needed to cross the village.

Four persons were accused Soreingam RS, Thotshang Rumthao, Lucky Zimik and Thangmayo of Rayotang village have been arrested in connection with the case.
