Earthquake of magnitude 4.5 hits Manipur's Ukhrul, no loss of life or property

Earthquake tremors were felt in Manipur`s Ukhrul at 5.56 am on Friday.

Earthquake tremors were felt in Manipur`s Ukhrul at 5.56 am on Friday. The magnitude of the earthquake was measured at 4.5 on the Richter scale. The National Center for Seismology has confirmed the earthquake. According to the National Centre for Seismology, the epicentre of the earthquake was 57 km from the ESE of Ukhrul.

There is no news of any loss of life or property.

Earlier on Wednesday, an earthquake of magnitude 5.3 struck Goalpara in Assam at 8:45.

Tremors have also been felt in Meghalaya and parts of West Bengal.

Earlier on 18 June, Three north-eastern states of Assam, Manipur and Meghalaya were jolted by earthquake tremors. They were low-intensity quakes and did not cause any loss of life and property. The earthquake struck areas of Tezpur in Assam, Chandel of Manipur and West Khasi Hills of Meghalaya according to the National Seismology has given this information.

On May 30, there was a 4.1 magnitude earthquake in Assam at 2.23 pm. The NCS said that the earthquake struck at a depth of 16 km. The epicentre of the earthquake was located 40 km west of Tezpur. Earthquake tremors have hit different parts of Northeast India for the last several months. On May 29, 2021, a 3.5 magnitude earthquake struck Meghalaya. On May 23, a 4.3 magnitude earthquake struck Manipur at 6:56 am. On May 19, there was a 3.2 magnitude earthquake in Assam at 5:55 pm. The epicentre of this earthquake was in Kamrup.
