Manipur imposes 10-day strict curfew from July 18 amid spike in Delta variant cases

The order said that during this period "only essential things related to vaccination, COVID test, medical services, water supply, power supply, telecom/internet services, air travel and agricultural activities will be allowed."

To break the chain of Delta variant of Covid-19 virus, the Manipur government has announced a total curfew for 10 days from July 18. Keeping in view the situation, the Health Department said that "there is a need to take strict steps to break the chain of transmission, hence the state government has announced a total curfew for 10 days from 18 July 2021.

The cases of corona infection are increasing continuously in the northeastern states.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh announced that during the curfew period, all institutions except essential services would remain closed. No one will be allowed to come out except for those coming out for vaccination and testing.

The order said that during this period "only essential things related to vaccination, COVID test, medical services, water supply, power supply, telecom/internet services, air travel and agricultural activities will be allowed."

The news of 17 deaths with 1,104 fresh COVID-19 cases in Manipur in the last 24 hours has made one think about the total lockdown.

Manipur currently has 8,210 active cases, while the total positive cases have reached 80,521.
