IMPHAL: Chief minister N Biren Singh said on Thursday his government has already earmarked a budget of Rs 35 crores under the 'Startup India' initiative to encourage local entrepreneurs. The CM was speaking at the launch of a Romi Industries shoe showroom at Kwakeithel area in Imphal West. Biren said the 'Startup India' campaign launched under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi plans to improve states' economy, thereby making the states self-reliant. The campaign is also directed at creation of jobs for the unemployed youth of the country, he added.Urging the unemployed youths of the state to become job creators instead of job seekers, Biren said they should not only want white collar jobs. He said "We shouldn't only have a commercial or profit-oriented view, but also need to work towards the welfare and prosperity of the state."Stating that his government would introduce policies and programmes to encourage the entrepreneurs of the state, the CM also urged the banks to encourage the local entrepreneurs and start-ups by providing financial assistance for their ventures.Biren also said skill development programmes have been started by the state government to enhance employment avenues among the unemployed. Appealing to the youths of the state not to lose hope, Biren said his government is ready to help, encourage and promote the local entrepreneurs in every aspect, said a statement issued by the CM's secretariat.To bring peace and inclusive development, the government will not compromise on any issue which affects the integrity of the state and creates conflict among various communities, added the CM.
