Manipur acts after Bihar CM Nitish's call, students' exodus stops

He added that Union HRD minister Prakash Javadekar responded positively to his request that the Centre send an inspection team to the NIT. He exhorted the students to stay calm and feel at home saying that the state government would ensure a peaceful academic atmosphere on the campus. The situation turned serious on Monday when police had to step in to restore order on the campus. He also spoke to NIT authorities and students. A police officer said the students agreed to return to the campus following 'a mutual understanding'.Trouble first broke out at the Centre-run institute after an altercation between students and locals during a football match on Sunday.
