Two devotees barred from Mahakal temple for one month\ Cutting cake in the templeIndore: The district administration in Ujjain has barred two women devotees from entering Mahakal temple premises for one month after it was found that they had cut a cake inside Nandi Grah and distributed it to other devotees and temple staff.The women, Sadhna Upadhyay and Nandani Joshi, had taken a cake inside the temple claiming that it was prasad, on May 7. The temple management also transferred two women employees and an inspector at primary level,” assistant administrative officer of Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple Management Committee, S P Dixit said.Considering their action to be against temple decorum, the administration on Saturday decided to bar the women from entering temple premises for period of one month, under section 107 & 116 of IPC. They have also been asked to sign a bond, promising they will not carry out such actions again inside the temple and if they do, they will have to pay fine of Rs one lakh each.“This is the first time that I have witnessed such a case. If similar thing happens in the future, we will make sure the offender pays the bond amount,” ADM Ujjain, G S Dabur said.Reacting to administration’s decision, Nandani said that though they were regular visitors, they didn’t know about any such rules. “We didn’t want to hurt anyone’s sentiments.
