INDORE: Prohibitory orders under Section 144 were clamped in Shajapur city after a mob went berserk and set afire five two-wheelers and damaged shops on Saturday.The incident took place when Rajput community members took out a rally to commemorate Maharana Pratap Jayanti in Shajapur, Sub-divisional officer of police Padam Singh Baghel said.As the procession reached Nai Sadak, a fight broke out with another group objecting to the blaring sound of music the participants were playing, he said adding unknown persons threw stones at the procession leading to a commotion.The angry crowd set afire five motorcycles and damaged goods at an auto parts shop, before police arrived in strength. In view of Eid, the police were already on high alert.Police resorted to lathi charge and lobbed teargas shells to gain control over the crowd.“The situation is absolutely under control. Prohibitory orders under Section 144 were imposed in the city,” Ujjain IG Rakesh Gupta told TOI.Police were deployed in all sensitive areas of the district to prevent any flare-up. No injuries were reported as of now.
