Indore: Crime Branch of Indore police on Thursday arrested a man who has duped several people by promising them loan of lakhs of rupees without any guarantee.Police had received a complaint from one Sachin Challotre that he had come in contact with a man through a newspaper advertisement and the man promised to give him a loan. He had been living in a rented house in Khargone and had also started an office in the area in order to dupe people. The accused identified as Akhilesh Mudgal, a resident of Koteshwar Colony in Gwalior, was arrested from Patel Square in Indore.He used to lure people by publishing advertisements in newspapers. He said that he paid them a monthly fee to use their accounts.

In the advertisement which the accused got published in Indore and Gwalior, he mentioned the tagline ‘From 2 lakh to 90 lakh in five days’ and offered loans to customers without any guarantee. After people approached him for loans, he would ask them to deposit several thousands in the name of file charges, processing fees etc and would then start avoiding them.He also created a fake identity using the name Manoj Bhadkariya.During questioning, the accused told police that he used different bank accounts on rent to get money transferred from the customers. He said that he paid them a monthly fee to use their accounts. Police also recovered several ATM cards from the accused.He said that he used to select slum areas to live such that people would not question his work and used fake identities.He told police that he had duped people from Khargone, Khandwa, Bhopal, Ujjain, Raisen and Jabalpur as well. He had been living in a rented house in Khargone and had also started an office in the area in order to dupe people. He duped people of lakhs of rupees in Khargone and after a while fled from the district and started living at a lodge in Indore.Several cases were registered against him at many police stations, including Bahodapur and Hajira police stations in Gwalior.“The accused has been arrested and booked under relevant sections of the IPC,” said ASP crime branch Amrendra Singh.
