Tree Man ‘Plantation without planning is of no use’

Indore: If the forest department had done its job right, the forests in the state wouldn’t have been cut down to such extent, the Tree Man of India, Vishnu Lamba, said on his visit to Indore on Thursday.He also condemned the 14-day strike of forest workers in the state which had resulted in cutting down of trees in several parts of the state.Lamba, 31, spoke about the diminishing forests and the way to save them. He said that the forests in Madhya Pradesh were the most threatened ones in the country.“The Dasyu tribe, which is often perceived as a group of dacoits of Beehad, can be a great asset to government in saving the area of Chambal, which is facing threat of illegal mining, and deforestation,” Lamba said while addressing a press conference.He criticised the state government for planting 6 crore saplings in one day without ensuring their proper care.
