INDORE: BJP chief Amit Shah on Saturday flagged off chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s Jan Ashirwad Yatra — and BJP’s election campaign — in the temple city of Ujjain.Taking a swipe at Congress, he said, “Congress dreams of forming a government with two kings and a wealthy man . But the Shivraj Singh government is formed by people’s support and blessings.”Though Shah didn’t name anyone, it was obvious he was referring to Congress campaign chief Jyotiraditya Scindia and AICC general secretary Digvijaya Singh as ‘kings’ and PCC chief Kamal Nath as a ‘wealthy man’.Addressing a large gathering at Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia stadium, Shah said Chouhan’s Jan Ashirwad Yatra — which will pass through all 230 constituencies to narrate his achievements — will “turn into a Vijay Yatra (victory procession) by the time it concludes”.“In the next 51 days, we will gather people’s blessings by travelling 11,000 km. BJP is the only party where a three-time chief minister has the courage to face the people and give an account of his works,” Shah said, adding BJP has turned a “Bimaru state into a state of 10% growth”. “What did Congress do during its 10-year rule?” he asked, and made the gathering take a pledge to elect Chouhan to power in the coming assembly elections and Narendra Modi in 2019.Chouhan showered praise on PM Narendra Modi and said the war bugle has been sounded in Madhya Pradesh. Without naming Rahul Gandhi, he said, “One bhaiyya (guy) had come forward some time ago, saying he will be the Prime Minister. He does not know if chili grows upright or at an angle, and if onion grows above the ground or below it.”Shah and Chouhan, accompanied by BJP state president Rakesh Singh, boarded a specially-designed chariot and stood on a hydraulic lift to greet people. Earlier in the day, Shah and Chouhan offered prayers at Mahakaal Temple and sought the blessing of the deity. The CM plans to hold 705 public meetings and 500 road shows during the yatra, which will end in Bhopal on September 25 — Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyay’s birth anniversary. The CM has invited PM Modi to the event.
